HOW CAN YOU HELP?

The animals at the Forever Farm are primarily seniors.  They have sadly lost their homes at the end of their lives, not unlike senior humans who have no family to care for them.  Except with animals there is no Medicaid or welfare programs to ensure they are cared for. We, however, are dedicated to providing retirement, assisted living, nursing and palliative care for as many dogs and cats as we have the space and funds to accommodate. If you would like to support our mission, there are several ways you can help.  Donating to our cause is easy and as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization your gift is tax deductible.  Our website, friendsforlifeforeverfarm.org,  provides a way to donate online either by credit card or Paypal.  And if writing a check is your preferred method, please mail to P.O Box 340, Sapphire, NC 28774.  Several folks have asked about a simple way to make monthly donations. This is now a possibility, and you can call us at 828-508-2460 to have this set up. Help Friends for Life while you are shopping. We are registered with Amazon Smile, where .01% of your purchase will be donated by Amazon to the charity of your choice.  To participate in this program go to smile.amazon.com and select Animal Friends for Life.  All prices and benefits are the same as going to amazon.com , except we will receive .01% of your purchase price from Amazon.  As you can imagine, this could really add up over time to our benefit. We also have a wonderful resale shop called the Friends for Life Treasure Shop in Brevard....

Meet Truman

Please meet Truman.  He’s one of our most recent additions to the Friends for Life Forever Farm in Lake Toxaway NC (near Brevard).  The “Farm” is a sanctuary for senior and special needs animals.  Truman came to us when his owner became critically ill and had to move into a nursing home near his daughter.  Three years ago however, “Larry” rescued Truman, a bady abused Black Lab and quickly they became each other’s very best friend.  Truman is about 5.5 years old and his “special need” is a seizure disorder that is completely and totaly controlled with medication.  Truman is a wonderful dog, and a loving companion dog.  He knows how to use a doggie door and while his owner Larry continued to decline in health, Truman would let himself in and out as needed.  On top of Larry’s illness, he broke his back in September and was confined to the bed for two full months.  During that time, Truman never left his side except to go out the doggie door to relieve himself.  Larry was heartbroken to move and leave Truman behind.  We at Friends for Life are thankful that we were sought out by Larry’s friends and were able to accommodate Truman rather than see him end up in a high kill facility.  We’re honored to care for Truman and try to find him a new forever home with a companion like Larry.  Truman is a gentle soul who is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, good with other dogs.  To our knowledge, Truman has not been around cats, but loves children and he’s the sort...
